Touro University Nevada Raises Record Amount for Student Scholarships During Annual Gala

Touro University Nevada raised a record amount of funds for student scholarships during its annual Gala held at The Four Seasons on March 10.

During the awards ceremony portion of the program, CEO & Senior Provost Shelley Berkley presented the Touro Awards of Distinction to the Engelstad Foundation, Findlay RV, and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Nevada. Monterey and Dr. Jeffrey Brookman were also presented with the Touro Service Award.

More than 600 guests enjoyed a keynote address from award-winning NBC News Correspondent Kerry Sanders, an inspirational speech from PA student Niyat Teweldebrhan, a live auction, silent auction, and awards ceremony.

“I am so grateful to Monterey and Dr. Jeffrey Brookman, the Englestad Foundation, Findlay RV, and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Nevada for being wonderful partners to us here at Touro,” Berkley said. “The Touro Awards of Distinction and the Touro Service Award are reserved for those who go above and beyond for this university.”

Throughout the evening, guests bid on more than 110 silent auction items in addition to 11 live auction items, including an autographed Vegas Golden Knights Max Pacioretty jersey, a personal jet experience, in-home chef catering, jewelry, art, and more. The proceeds raised from the event directly benefit the Touro Scholarship Fund.

“The Touro Gala is a wonderful way to help ease the financial burden for our hard-working students,” Berkley said. “Whether you donated an auction item, bid on an auction item, or helped show your support for our students by purchasing a table to this year’s Gala, I sincerely thank you for helping to make their journeys a little easier.”
