Southwest Medical, part of Optum Care, has a long history of community service and philanthropy.
The company’s team members recently tallied their volunteer hours for the first 10 months of the year and determined that they donated a combined total of 3,996 volunteer hours so far in 2022.
Despite the effect of the pandemic to organization-wide volunteer programs, there were still high-impact volunteer efforts that took place in the U.S. and abroad, including:
In 2020, one of Southwest Medical’s nurse practitioners traveled to New York City at the height of COVID-19 crisis there to help as an RN at a Bronx hospital in its COVID unit.
In 2021, Southwest Medical, in partnership with One World Surgery (OWS), a global not-for-profit organization, pursued a weeklong primary care field mission in Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
