Southern Hills Hospital is proud to announce a major medical milestone for the state of Nevada successfully performing the first FDA-approved minimally invasive repair solution for the treatment of complex aneurysms involving the aorta — the body’s main blood vessel responsible for delivering blood to vital organs throughout the chest and abdomen.
This groundbreaking advancement represents a significant shift in how complex aortic aneurysms are treated. Historically, these life-threatening conditions require an extensive open surgical procedure involving a large incision from the ribs to the pelvis. Patients often face hospital stays exceeding two weeks, followed by months of recovery.
Today, thanks to new innovative FDA-approved technology, the same complex repair can now be performed through millimeter-sized incisions in the groin, using advanced wires and catheters, eliminating the need for a large open incision altogether.
