South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa and Vitalant – which provides blood to 900 hospitals nationwide, including nearly 50 in Nevada alone – have partnered to host a blood drive to help bolster the community blood supply on April 10.
Blood is perishable and in constant demand. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. A blood recipient himself, South Point Sports Book Director Chris Andrews can speak to the importance of blood donation and how it helps save lives — including his own. In 2017, Chris was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). His body wasn’t producing new red blood cells, and he relied on constant blood transfusions to stay alive. He received at least 60 transfusions during his treatment.
