May 7th Golf Event Benefits Southern Nevada’s Active Duty Military and Veterans

The Nation of Patriots, a nationally registered 501 C 3 organization, was founded to help veterans in financial need or who are wounded in service to our country.  Each summer, the Nation of Patriots conducts “The Patriot Tour.”  A large American flag is escorted around the country by volunteers, making stops throughout all 50 states. In addition, and in conjunction with the Patriot Tour, volunteers conduct independent events to raise funds, specifically to help deserving veterans in Southern Nevada. Absolutely one hundred percent of the money raised by the Nation of Patriots goes towards helping our veterans here in Southern Nevada.

The criteria for veterans to be considered for financial assistance are two-fold.  First, the veteran, injured in service to our country, second, the veteran must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Regional Commander.

The Las Vegas effort is spearheaded by our very generous medical community.  Members of these various chapters serve as volunteers for all the events.  They also ride in procession with the Nation of Patriots flag while it is in Las Vegas.  This is typical in July or August of each year.

The Nevada Healthcare Forum, whose four founding chapters are Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Healthcare Leaders Association of Nevada (HLAN formerly MGMA), and Health Information and Management Systems Society) HIMSS.

Over the last 9 years, Las Vegas has raised a substantial amount of funds to benefit our veterans receiving care at the Michael O’Callaghan Federal Hospital at Nellis AFB and the local Veterans Administration.  We have raised over $250,000 in the last 9 years for our local military service personnel.  These recipients have previously been honored at a ceremony at Nellis AFB, presenting them and their families with a few mementos and a check. In addition to the honored veterans, the attendees include most of the senior leadership from Nellis AFB, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, dignitaries from the Las Vegas City government, and riders from the local Southern Nevada Harley Davidson motorcycle chapter.

Host Course: Angel Park

The Mountain Course opened in 1990 and was designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer and has beautiful views of the Red Rock Mountains. Situated on the west side of the property, the Mountain Course is slightly longer than the Palm Course and has more difficulty playing the par 5s and par 4s. Like the Palm Course, the Mountain Course has some challenging putting surfaces and a player must have great focus to make putts.
