Simulation held on April 15th was sponsored by MountainView Hospital and community partners, involved EMS, fire agencies, law enforcement and medical trainees in a real-world emergency response scenario
MountainView Hospital, in collaboration with the MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute and the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium, led a large-scale mass casualty incident (MCI) drill designed to simulate a real-world emergency response.
The exercise began on April 15th at Doc Romero Park with a simulated 9-1-1 call before “patients” were transported to MountainView Hospital’s Emergency Department. The drill tested coordinated response, triage and patient transport procedures across multiple agencies.
Nearly 150 students and community volunteers participated as mock patients, allowing first responders and medical teams to practice high-volume emergency care in a controlled environment.
Participating agencies included:
• MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute
• Sunrise Health GME Consortium
• Metro Police Bomb Squad
• Clark County Fire Department
• Las Vegas Fire & Rescue
• Henderson Fire Department
• North Las Vegas Fire Department
• Las Vegas EMS Services
• Community Ambulance
This full-scale exercise simulated a complex emergency scenario requiring rapid triage, coordinated patient transport, and hospital surge response. The drill is designed to enhance preparedness, strengthen interagency collaboration, and ensure the highest level of care during real emergencies.
