Many Nevadans have significant challenges accessing health care, including transportation, childcare or other challenges that prevent them from going to a health care center. Introduced by Optum – Nevada in 2016, Medicine on the Move is a 45-foot, state-of-the-art, mobile medical center that has travelled across Nevada, providing patients with a wide range of services: pediatric or primary care visits, immunizations, x-rays, mammography, physicals, and basic lab tests.
Medicine on the Move recently reached a major milestone, clocking in at 100,000 miles on its odometer while returning from a health care visit to Reno. The handicap-accessible, custom-built clinic is staffed by physicians, licensed nurse practitioners, medical assistants, a radiology technician, and a driver.
