Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada Launches 13th Year of Free Sunscreen and Skin Safety Partnerships

For the 13th consecutive summer, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (Comprehensive) is continuing its mission to help Southern Nevadans stay safe in the sun through community-wide partnerships that provide free SPF 30 sunscreen and skin safety education. Nearly 20 local organizations will offer sunscreen packets, purchased and supplied by Comprehensive, along with proactive sun safety tips to their customers, visitors and employees.

The announcement coincides with the start of Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May and comes ahead of Southern Nevada’s peak summer season. Free sunscreen and educational elements will be available throughout the region’s hottest months.

To date, Comprehensive has purchased and distributed tens of thousands of sunscreen packets across Southern Nevada in addition to supplying sunscreen via kiosks and pump stations placed at high-traffic community locations. Once the supplies are delivered, the partner organizations provide the free sunscreen and position the awareness elements accordingly.

New to the partnership roster in 2026 is Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, who will provide sunscreen packets to members at five clubhouses throughout the valley.

Returning skin safety and sunscreen partners include: City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, Clark County Parks & Recreation, City of Henderson Parks & Recreation, RTC Southern Nevada, Downtown Container Park, Tivoli Village, The District at Green Valley Ranch, Las Vegas Aviators, UNLV Athletics, Las Vegas Lights FC, Vegas Golden Knights and Vegas Silver Knights, The PENTA Building Group, Friends at Red Rock Canyon, Cowabunga Bay and Cadence master-planned community. Comprehensive is also the official sun safety partner for the Southern Nevada affiliate of the American Cancer Society.

“Heading into our 13th year, it’s incredible to see how much this mission has grown into a true community-wide effort with nearly 20 Southern Nevada partners by our side,” says Dr. Rupesh Parikh, practice president and medical oncologist. “By expanding our reach to major hubs across the valley, we’re making it easier than ever for families to protect their skin while enjoying life outdoors. Our goal is to help prevent skin cancer before it ever starts, and these partnerships allow us to meet people where they are to help keep our community skin smart.”

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1,120 Nevadans will be diagnosed with melanoma of the skin in 2026, and one in five Americans will develop skin cancer by age 70. Amid rising rates of skin cancer and melanoma occurrences nationwide, awareness remains a powerful tool in mitigating the chance of a prospective skin-related diagnosis.
