Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced that Karen Rubel has been named President and CEO effective July 1, 2019. Rubel will assume day-to-day leadership of the non-profit organization and will also join the Board of Trustees.

“We are thrilled to announce Karen Rubel’s appointment as CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice,” said Dennis Kennedy, partner of Bailey Kennedy, Attorneys at Law, and Chairman of the Nathan Adelson Hospice Board of Trustees. “Karen’s tenure at Nathan Adelson Hospice, her experience in healthcare, her innovative ideas and her keen grasp of the changing healthcare landscape make her the perfect person to lead the hospice into its next 40 years of caring for the people and families of Southern Nevada.”

Ms. Rubel has been with the organization for over 12 years, previously holding the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Development for Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation. While in these positions, she led hospice operations and major gift fundraising, developed new facilities, and strengthened relations with local health care groups.

“It is a privilege and honor for me to have been chosen as the next CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice,” said Rubel. “My goal is to continue to build on the mission and vision that has been consistent since our beginning that no one end the journey of life alone, afraid or in pain. During this dynamic time in healthcare, we are excited for the future which includes our continued collaboration with community partners in healthcare.”

Before joining Nathan Adelson Hospice, Ms. Rubel was the Director of Advancement for the Nevada Community Foundation in Las Vegas and previously as the Director of Development at University of Nevada Las Vegas for the colleges of Fine Arts, Education, and Health Sciences. Ms. Rubel earned a B.A. in English from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. in Administration from Dominican University in Illinois. She is a graduate of the Thayer Institute with a Master’s degree in Leadership Arts and Sciences.

Rubel will be succeeding retiring CEO, Carole Fisher. After 14 years at Nathan Adelson Hospice, Fisher is transitioning into a new role as an executive coach and leadership speaker. She will serve as a special advisor to the hospice through 2020.
