Former COO ascends to the helm
Prominence Health Plan is pleased to announce that Kamal Jemmoua has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prominence Health Plan, effective immediately. In this role, Jemmoua is responsible for the continued growth of the health plan as well as new value-based care ventures including building physician-led Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and expanding Prominence Care Centers in key markets. Prominence’s goal is to provide innovative and convenient access to care and serve as the health plan employers choose for their employees and subscribers choose for their family.
Jemmoua joined parent company Universal Health Services (UHS) in 2013, and oversaw the acquisition of Prominence Health Plan in 2014. Serving as Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for successfully driving changes that resulted in financial turnaround, growth and expansion.
“We have such a talented team and they truly care about our customers and members,” said Jemmoua. “We’ve come a long way in the last couple of years and it’s been an incredible experience both personally and professionally. I’m looking forward to helping Prominence become a health plan that exceeds the expectations of those we serve.”
During his tenure with Prominence, the company launched a Medicare Advantage line of business in Nevada and Texas, and restructured the organization to focus on solving member care challenges. New programs help by connecting with members on an individual basis, addressing barriers to healthcare such as transportation, navigating the healthcare system, and providing 24/7 access to doctors and therapists by phone or video through a telemedicine benefit.
Jemmoua also spearheaded the launch of five ACOs within the UHS Acute Care division, covering 130,000 lives across California, Florida, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas and Washington D.C., with two additional ACOs launching in July 2019. ACOs are managed care systems that benefit communities by providing coordinated, high-quality care to Medicare patients.
In 2018, Jemmoua and his team launched Association Health Plans including the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce and Nevada Builders Alliance, providing more affordable and high-quality healthcare options to small business owners.
Under Jemmoua’s leadership as Interim CEO, Prominence Health Plan recently launched two new Prominence Care Centers, addressing the unprecedented demand for accessible and high-quality healthcare in the region. Staffed with full-time medical teams and health coaches, the care centers are dedicated to helping members achieve their ultimate well-being.
Prior to joining the healthcare field, Jemmoua held various roles in the financial industry with Delphi Financial Group and SEI Investments. He is a CPA and earned his Bachelor’s in finance/economics from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas and his Master’s in finance from Villanova University.
Jemmoua serves on various boards including Northern Nevada Medical Center, Access to Healthcare and the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce.
