Connecting students. Opening doors. Building Nevada’s future healthcare workforce.
The HEALS Foundation is launching HEALS MedPath, a new healthcare career exploration and immersion initiative designed to make it easier for educators to connect students directly with Nevada’s healthcare industry.
MedPath will initially launch in partnership with HOSA – Future Health Professionals, introducing the platform to advisors serving approximately 2,000 Clark County high school students. From there, access will expand at no cost to educators throughout Clark County.
Through MedPath, educators can connect their classrooms with physicians, nurses, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals. Healthcare organizations can also offer students opportunities including facility tours, simulation labs, summer programs, trainings and other real-world experiences.
The concept grew from three years of HEALS workforce development work and the former High School Medical Society. We saw firsthand that educators wanted more access to healthcare professionals, while healthcare organizations wanted to engage the next generation. The problem was connecting the two efficiently.
MedPath was built to remove that barrier.
Development of the technology was made possible through the support of the Nevada Hospital Association and Calderon Medical Group, allowing the HEALS Foundation to turn years of hands-on workforce programming into infrastructure that can reach more students and educators.
Healthcare Professionals & Organizations: Get Involved
MedPath depends on the participation of Nevada’s healthcare community.
If you are a physician, nurse, therapist, healthcare executive or other healthcare professional, you can volunteer to speak with students and share what your career actually looks like.
If your organization can provide a tour, simulation experience, training, summer program or other opportunity, we want students to be able to find it.
A student cannot pursue a career they never knew existed. Together, we can make sure more Nevada students have the opportunity to discover where they fit in healthcare.
