Dogs and Diabetes, New Developments in This Disease and How Service Dogs are Helping
Light Dinner Provided
Presented by Vasudha Gupta, PharmD, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, Roseman University of Health Sciences
Dr. Vasudha Gupta, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, will cover the latest research and news in Diabetes, and how this disease is detected, treated and its underlying causes. How are Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes treated? What new drugs are on the horizon to help people? How do diet and overall well-being play into this disease? Dr. Gupta will be joined by Michaels’ Angel Paws, started in 2001 as a way to honor Michael Gerken’s brief time in this world. Determined to not let their angel’s short time on earth go unnoticed, parents Stephanie and Bryce knew that had he survived, he would have needed the help of a Service Dog to help mitigate his disabilities. Learn how this incredible organization trains dogs to serve the varying needs of their human companions, how service dogs help diabetics specifically and meet several of their beautiful animals.
