Region’s Leading Cancer Treatment Center Finalist for Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance’s Innovation Award

Comprehensive Cancer Centers (Comprehensive) is one of three finalists for Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance’s (LVGEA) Innovation Award. According to the LVGEA, the Innovation Award recognizes businesses or community organizations “whose groundbreaking achievements in product and service development, technology and infrastructure, research and development, or public policy have significantly impacted the economy of the greater Las Vegas area.”

Comprehensive, an affiliate of The US Oncology Network, is being recognized for its diverse lines of service, locally and globally renowned physicians, advanced research capabilities and its ability to open and enroll patients on clinical trials quickly – and in some cases the first cancer center to open a trial in the country or the world. In terms of its impact on the local economy, Comprehensive employs 571 Southern Nevadans. Today the team boasts more than 50 medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, breast surgeons, pulmonologists and advanced practice providers. The practice participates in more than 170 Phase I, Phase II and Phase III clinical research studies each year and has played a role in developing more than 70 FDA-approved cancer therapies. In 2017, more than 2,200 patients traveled to Las Vegas from out-of-state for treatment at Comprehensive for its various treatment options and advanced research capabilities.

As one of three finalists, Comprehensive Cancer Centers will be honored at LVGEA’s 2018 Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Mariposa Ballroom inside the Aria Resort & Casino, alongside fellow companies and individuals helping further community and economic growth in Southern Nevada.
