Nathan Adelson Hospice 14th Annual ‘John Anderson – Celebration of Life

By | Healthcare Events

Nathan Adelson Hospice, Southern Nevada’s largest non-profit hospice, today announced the 14th Annual John Anderson ‘Celebration of Life’ Live Butterfly Release will take place on The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin® at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30.

Southern Nevada community members are invited to celebrate and honor the memory of lost loved ones during this annual event, which takes place this year on the large lawn area at the shopping center, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive. The butterfly release will commence at approximately 2:30 p.m. Butterflies can be reserved in advance for $50 a box, with each box containing two butterflies, by contacting Stephanie Forbes at 702.938.3910 or via email at  Sponsorship opportunities are available.

The event – named after a beloved 23-year Nathan Adelson Hospice employee who passed away in April 2007 – is open to the public. The premise of the butterfly release is based on an American Indian legend for carrying wishes to the heavens. The legend claims that if anyone desired a wish to come true, they had to capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. The butterfly, which makes no sound, could not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit, who hears and sees all. The butterfly carried the wish to the heavens to be granted.

The annual event brings together hundreds of friends and families to release more than 500 butterflies in memory of loved ones who have died.

“Our annual ‘Celebration of Life’ butterfly release is a beautiful event that gives everyone the opportunity to honor the lives of loved ones who have completed the journey of life,” said Carole Fisher, president and chief executive officer of Nathan Adelson Hospice. “Butterflies represent the delicate but beautiful transition of life, and the gesture of letting them go provides comfort to those who have experienced a difficult loss of a spouse, parent, child, or anyone close. A critical part of our philosophy at Nathan Adelson Hospice is providing emotional and spiritual support to the patients and families left behind.”

About Nathan Adelson Hospice

Nathan Adelson Hospice, the trusted partner in hospice care and palliative medicine for almost 40 years, is the largest non-profit hospice in Southern Nevada, caring for an average of 400 hospice and palliative care patients daily. In 1978, Nathan Adelson Hospice began providing home care hospice service in Southern Nevada with the mission to offer patients and their loved ones with comprehensive end-of-life care and influence better care for all in the community.  In 1983, Nathan Adelson Hospice opened an in-patient hospice in Las Vegas, and today the hospice is recognized as a national model for superior hospice care. The mission of the hospice is to be the Hospice of Choice, the Employer of Preference and a Training Center of Excellence for comprehensive end of life care.  Its vision is simple: no one should end the journey of life alone, afraid or in pain.

·         Each year, approximately 735,000 Americans have a heart attack – 525,000 are a first heart attack

For information about heart disease and more, visit the American Heart Association site, and the CDC site Additional statistical information is accessible on the CDC Interactive Atlas Nevada.

Win-Win Entertainment Launches Monthly Show Program at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children

By | Healthcare Events

Win-Win Entertainment is launching a new ongoing monthly entertainment program at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City, NV on Saturday, January 21.  Each month, a professional Las Vegas entertainer will travel to St. Jude’s Ranch, and give of his or her time and talent to perform for the children and staff.  With this monthly show series, the children of St. Jude’s Ranch will be treated to a variety of family-friendly, inspirational entertainers including magicians, jugglers, puppeteers, storytellers, actors, singers, dancers, musicians, and more.  The children will have opportunities to engage with the performers through interactive workshops and post-show question and answer sessions.

Win-Win Entertainment Founder & Chairman Jeff Civillico is leading off this program with the first show on January 21st, at 2 p.m. “We are thrilled to establish an ongoing program at St. Jude’s Ranch,” said Civillico.  “We know our performers will find the experience of visiting St. Jude’s Ranch and sharing their talents with the children there extremely fulfilling. Win-Win has provided entertainment for several St. Jude’s Ranch events in the past including ‘Night of Lights,” and most recently their 50th Golden Anniversary Gala on November 4th. So it was only fitting that we expanded our relationship with St. Jude’s Ranch and developed an ongoing program there.”

Win-Win Entertainment has developed entertainment programs that provide direct services opportunities for performers to share their talents with hospital patients, senior care residents, those with special needs, our servicemen and women, our veterans and more.  The success of these ongoing programs with partners including Dignity Health, USO Las Vegas, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, and Miracle League of Las Vegas has paved the way for the creation of this program at St. Jude’s Ranch.  St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is a non-profit organization that saves the lives of traumatized children who have been abused, neglected or left homeless.

“Win-Win Entertainment, and Jeff Civillico specifically, have been very supportive of us over the years,” said Jackie Yoxen of St. Jude’s Ranch. “So when they offered to create this program, we jumped at the chance to help our kids and increase awareness of both organizations and the incredible work that is being done through them.”

About Win-Win Entertainment: Win–Win Entertainment is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 2011 by Flamingo Headliner Jeff Civillico, with the specific intention of matching professional entertainers willing to donate their time and talent with eligible, approved non–profit organizations in Southern Nevada. Since this time, Win–Win Entertainment has experienced tremendous growth, thanks in large part to our wonderful sponsors who have supported Win–Win from the onset and our dedicated family of entertainers, who generously give of their time, resources and talents.

About St. Jude’s Ranch for Children: St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is a 501c3 non-profit organization that saves the lives of traumatized children. For 50 years, the charity has helped abused, neglected and homeless children and young adults, ages 0 to 25, by providing customized therapy and tools to break the cycle of abuse, as well as by keeping families and siblings together. The ultimate goal is to help these individuals find a forever family and achieve self-sufficiency. Approximately 60% of the children have been physically abused, 40% sexually abused, many have suffered both physical and sexual abuse, and 100% have been neglected.
